Direct Marketing – Letters

Real Estate

Real Estate

This realtor was a client of the sales business I was in. I did not consider myself a copywriter then. I had written her a sales letter for her to purchase a service. She asked who wrote the sales letter, and I told her I did. She asked me to write a sales letter for her agency. She knew what she wanted to do. But she did not know how to say it.

She told me the facts. Homes were being undersold across several large counties. Undersold homes would lead to sellers taking their homes off the market. Buyers’ bids would be too low. It would have slowed the market in that area. This letter was written to grow her agency’s business. She used variations of it across those counties.

I don’t know if she continues to use this letter or a version of it.

Insurance

Insurance

The owner of this insurer was a friend of a client. He lived in another state. My client had told him about the sales letter I sent him, and his friend wanted me to look at his sales letters. We discussed his insurance business. He wanted to increase its sales with profitable customers. He also wanted me to warn business owners about the perils of cheap, inadequate business insurance. The letter was used for over a year.

I wrote this fundraising letter for a person who raised money for different organizations. I had sent her a sales letter. She met me and wanted to see how I would write a fundraising letter. So I came up with an idea and wrote a letter similar to this one. She liked it and purchased it. A person at her company asked if I wanted to write for them. I had a sales job at the time and liked my job. A person from their company said they had used the letter and modified it for different fundraisers.

Restaurant

A friend told me about a restaurant. She said the owners were low on cash. They wanted her to write a letter for their business. She asked me to help her. Then she left me to do it. The owners wanted to accomplish three things with this letter. And they wanted the letter to be more than a brief note.

1) They wanted to increase their customer base. But in a way that showed their restaurant’s personality. “Fine dining without snobbery.” (Their words.)

2) They wanted to show they were involved and part of the community.

3) They wanted the letter to have a feel and sense of family tradition.

My friend said the owners told her that this letter was responsible for almost 100 new customers in 1 month. I had no way of verifying that, but I was honored to help. I wrote one more for her.

This was not the original letter, but it is similar.
