For most companies, advertising and marketing are not luxuries. They are for survival.
Marla helped her three children set up their cupcake and lemonade stands. It was Saturday morning. The streets would be busy with neighbors walking and driving by. She planned on a $300 day, breaking their record of last year’s $198.
It stunned her when a quarter of the walking and driving traffic did not come by. She stopped her neighbor, Jan, who was out for a walk. She asked if something was going on in the area. Jan told her Lynn Davis had a raffle, lemonade, and cupcake sale down at the opposite end of the street. Marla squinted. Jan told her Lynn had sent flyers to people for a month. Jan also said she heard Lynn would do over $500 this year. Then she asked who would ever break that record. Marla could not believe it.
Solution: Always tell people about your business. This is no time to keep a secret.
